Hello everyone,

I am writing an folklore / folklife essay about Browncoats and was interested in speaking to some other Browncoats about their experience. Basically I want to do a folkgroup study of Browncoats, what makes us who we are, and so forth. I'm interested in collecting stories about how you discovered the Browncoats/Firefly/Serenity, shared experiences, shindig stories, etc.

I really want to collect our history and see what makes us who we are as a collected group. I am in the Columbus, OH area (specifically near the Ohio State campus) so if anyone is interested in getting together and having some coffee and talking about Firefly and the Browncoats please contact me. I can and am willing to visit other areas too so I can collect these experiences.

Pictures from Shindigs/Cons would be apperciated as well. All credit for stories/pics will be given to informants; a release statement would be required to sign (anonymity can be used if you like). This is not for profit! I do not intend to submit this for paid publication, it is an endevor of joy for me.

Bump.

Still looking for folks to talk to.

Several of the folklorists I've spoken to are really excited about this essay. Browncoats have done some amazing things - from raising money for charity to basically making it viable for Universal to produce a movie. We are avery unique community - we are so varied in who we are, where we come from, and the folkgroups we normally belong to; but we share so much at the same time!

I'm really excited to be working on this project and I hope I can talk to some Browncoats who can be excited to talk Firefly with me.

Any takers?
