Need some help -- Jayne Hat Video iPod Cozy

Hello all,

I am in need of a bit of assistance, and I was hoping my fellow Browncoats could give me some suggestions. I am knitting my brother a Jayne hat for his birthday (shhh, don't tell!) and while I've been working away on it in the evenings (I'm one of those weird techy people who loves her computer, but needs to do something creative away from the computer at least half an hour each evening, just to unwind), I've been giving some thought to making a matching ipod cozy, also for my brother.

Now, I've never owned an ipod. I'm rarely away from my computer, and I've rigged up the surround sound in my home theater to play mp3s, so I've just never felt the need for an ipod. I have a small mp3 player I take with me when I travel, but that's it. Anyway, my brother is the proud owner of a video ipod, which I think he takes with him everywhere. He has a few videos on it, but mostly uses it to listen to music.

So here's where I could use some help. If any of you out there have video ipods, could you tell me a bit about what it's like to own one? How do you carry it around? What problems have you had with it? What would you like to have in your ideal video ipod case/cozy? Would you prefer something that you could attach to a belt loop? Or something that would keep the screen safe while its in your pocket or bag?

And if it's not too much trouble, would someone mind checking these measurements for me? I've found two different sets of specs online, and neither sounds completely right to me. The dimensions I've seen have been 5.4" by 1.5" by 5.4", or 4.1" by 2.4" by 0.4". The latter seems more likely to me, but then, I haven't seen one in person. And if anyone does get a chance to measure their ipod, could you tell me how big the screen is, and how far down it is from the top edge of the ipod?
