I have been a fan for quite a while and chat regularly on IMDb with many other fans scattered all over the globe. I have done my duty and turned many people on to the 'Verse and they in turn have brought other people into the fold. However, these people, tough fans, do not quite "get" the level of interest that I have, I have the books, I have the graphic novels, I analyse the characters, I actually contemplate "WWJD" -What Would Jayne Do? and then I do the opposite, because he always does the wrong thing. Though highly entertaining!! Jayne is obviously my favourite character. I would like to hear from other Browncoats in Ireland. I'm based in Dublin...

Yes! Here! *jumps up and down* Here! Over here! I'm Irish!

Sorry. Excitable and proud. Not a good combination. I'm based in Dublin too. Good to see another Irish browncoat about the place! There's a few of us around

Welcome! Care for some green dyed mudder's milk? I brewed some up for a Patrick's Day shindig and I just can't seem to get rid of the stuff...

Cheers for replying, so nice to know I'm not alone. Most people don't get my love of all things Whedon, even though he is a bit of a megalomaniac and I love Charisma Carpenter and really wasn't happy with the way she was treated.

The thing I love most about Firefly is that it appeals to such a broad spectrum of people, most of the people I regularly chat with are over 40, some in their 60's and then there are teenagers too.

Hope to hear from more Browncoats. What will you be doing on Serenity Day??

Cheers!! Don't ya just get a thrill when you meet others that know the 'Verse?/ It's like we are a secret club!!

You now have a duty to show the series and the movie to others and to try to bring them around to our way of thinking. The more we are, the stronger we are. We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

Hello, ICallHerVera!

Not recently Irish, myself, but it's
in the family tree.

Reason I dropped in was to give you the
Welcome Home all new recruits deserve, and
to offer up a bowl of strawberries, fresh
from the Persephone market.

And a mug of un-dyed Mudders' Milk, a trifle
better than the mid-March leftovers (hehe).

Buffet is up in the galley, 24 hours a day,
if you use obsolete time measurements. Best

It's right shiny to have you aboard.

I can't believe I never thought to post here before. There are a small group of fans that have started to meet once a month in Dublin.

We are not meeting in December as it is too close to christmas and folks are busy so the next one is Saturday 13th January, 2007. At the Long Stone Pub at 6.30.

Hope some of you can make it.

Can I be honorary Irish?

I'm not even remotely Irish, but I've become absolutely obsessed with Ireland in the past three years. It is a dream of mine to visit.

I fell in love with the scenery via (of all things) a Def Leppard video (Miss You In A Heartbeat) and then was given an Irish music CD (Bothy Band "Old Hag You Have Killed Me). There is a song called "Fionnghuala" on it that I just fell in love with and wanted to learn how to sing it.

So, I actually started trying to learn Irish on my own! Haven't done anything with that in a while, but I still remember some stuff.

I'm also a huge fan of Ballykissangel. Avoca would be among the many places I'd have to go to if I ever get the chance to visit!

Hello All.

The next Dublin Shindig is on Saturday 13th January.

Plans are to go ice skating in the RDS for the 4.10 - 5.10 session.

Meeting outside the RDS at 3.30.

Its highly advised that you book your ticket if you want to come iceskating http://www.7upchristmasonice.ie/ice_skating.php

That saves the problem of anyone being responsible for money.

For anyone who doesn't want to go iceskating, there will be the usual drinks at The Long Stone Pub at 6.30.

Hope to see some of you there.

Hi all & ALMARSARE,

Thanks for organising the Dublin Shindigs and the Serenity screening :) I've been a member for a while, but forgot everything about it ...

I've added a graphic for an Irish Browcoat ;) not sure me ol' irish is up to it ... but perhaps someone could check. I'm putting it into Cafepress of course ...

I'm in Dublin also, Tipp in origin, but not sure I can make Sat 28 Apr, as it clashes with something - which I will try and reorganise - as I'd love to meet up with ye all.

Still, always wanted to vist there... and the Highlands, since I'm a bit of everything from the British Isles. Figures, eh?
Still, if I ever win the lottery, I'm either moving to Monte Carlo or Dublin... or, Hell, both!

Having fun yet?

The next shindig will be taking place Saturday 28th July in The Long Stone Pub.

I will be there from about 6.30 pm and we are usually there until closing so come along anytime.

Our usual place is upstairs.

Look for the Jayne hat on the table or a Serenity hoodie thrown over the back of a chair.

Hope to see you all then.

Good man. If you're gonna have a shindig, have a shindig. No half measures, especially when it comes to drinks. Were you at the Serenity screening in June for Joss Whedon's favourite charities? I was outa town for that too and was wondering how it went.

I remember reading about this event and I totally geeked out about it, got real excited and then I realized I was travelling to Cavan that day. Cue much anger!!!

I gotta say, Almar, that looks like a fantastic day. You really went the whole hog on that and fair play to ya! Christ it must've taken a lot of your time to put it together, so hats off. Will it be an annual thing or was that a one off event?

Also hope I'm around for the next Shindig. Hopefully things will slow down calendar wise for me and I can get along to one. Looks like a fun group of folk too.
