Hi! Something I noticed while watching the original pilot has always had me wondering...

Right after Kaylee is shot, Wash says over the P.A. that the Alliance has requested to meet for "prisoner transport." Doesn't this pretty much imply that the Alliance knows where the Tam's are (Serenity)? After all, wouldn't the Alliance know what prisoners they are transporting?

Not sure if that makes sense... just something that's been irritating me.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

They know that there are prisoners on board because they were contacted by Dobson, but not enough got through (I think) for them to know much more than that. As Jayne said "They don't know a damn thing! It's all over your face..." they might not even have been able to ID Serenity, though I have my doubts as to how that would work. Let's go with the simple explanation; it was more dramitic that they were hailed and had to run.

Well, Dobson had to be pretty excited that he'd caught Simon and River. I'm sure he would have told the other ship exactly who he had. But maybe he wasn't able to tell them? As mentioned, Jayne does say that they "don't know a damn thing." Maybe all Dobson could indicate was that he had people in custody. Although, you'd figure that finding Simon and River was Dobson's specific assignment, so when he requested transfer they would have known it was the Tams. And of course they know which ship it is. So that would make the Alliance boarding Serenity in Safe pretty... interesting.

Oh, sorry. I must have taken too long writing. When I started, you hadn't posted.
