I don't know if this has ever been mentioned on this site before--some Canadian fans are making their own series "Into the Black" based on the 'verse. It's not about Firefly, but it looks really awesome. It's very organized and they're taking quality very seriously. If I can't have more Firefly, I think this looks promising.
