America loves a winner!

Only a few of us in there today, but that's to be expected at a 1:20 showing. A couple of quick comments -

In the last fight scene w/ Mal and The Operative, Mal needed to have a armored vest on. In the early screening, The Operative runs Mal clean through w/ the sword, and it looked just way too unbelievable. In the BDM, some of that was edited out, but still..it's a reach that Mal could take a stab clean through him, take the sword out, continue fighting, beat the Operative, then stumble upstairs. Mal should have been stuck w/ the sword, but have it not run all the way through. Afterward, he could have said something like, "I liked your idea about the body armor", and then shown where the sword didn't do as much damage as was thought. Something different than having him shake off being stuck like a pig and still living.

Jayne is literally fiddling with something in EVERY gorram scene! For those who saw the FF DVD...I still find it funny. Bag of chips here, a bowl of noodles there, a drink, a gun...

When Mal and River are in the cockpit, and she just looks at him w/ that little girl face, as she pulls her knees up to her chest and listens to him talk about how love keeps a ship up in the air...wow. Still gets to me. Love that scene.

Yeah, Jayne is always eating.

Which makes me think that Mal's earlier complaint about "a powerful need to eat" has less to do with money than with Jayne eating them out of house and home.
