I was very happy to learn that Beatles songs are (evidently) still around in the 2500s:

MAL: Cry baby, cry
WASH: Make your Mama sigh..

(from "Serenity" referencing a song on The Beatles-White Album) I can think of no other pop band that deserves to last that long and have their music taken off planet after Earth gets used up. Hopefully Britney and NSync's music was left behind on the doomed world.

What other things have you noticed, or can infer, made the 500 year trek into Firefly's present day?

I'm guessing the NRA is around somewhere since projectile weaponry is still prominent.

Wash could have been alluding to an old George Jones song:

"Tell me why, Baby; why, Baby; why, Baby, why/You make me cry, Baby; cry, Baby; cry, Baby, cry."

The name of the song is, of course, "Cry, Baby, Cry" Mal could have misunderstood and finished "Cry, Baby, cry" with a Beetles verse.

CRAZY IVANS ..... a U.S. Navy Submariner term. Though not used in the right context. (First made popular to the public in the movie HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER).
