My Newbie Dilemma

Hiya folks,

Only introduced myself to the show a few months ago, but it's the usual story: I already feel as if I've been at this for years with you folks, strumming away at the "Hero of Canton" and "Mal's Song" on my guitar, and chuckling at cheesecake drawings. The fandom hit hard.....sooooooooooo very hard.

Here is my dilemma:

I'm studying at the Uni of St Andrews in Scotland, but spending my summer back home here in Finland. So I would have been returning to Scotland in any case come late August-September. Argh! However I only discovered Fireflyfans late enough to completely miss the early plugging of the Serenity screenings at the Edinburgh Film Festival. No tickets, no joy! Double Argh! Now I have both pressing business arranged for early September, a flight booked for mid-September and news of yet another Serenity screening on August 28th. Nooooo! Why do they torture me so?!

As I'm already coming back to Scotland.... not to mention being on a measly student budget, I reeeeally can't justify spending an extra odd 200+ pounds on travel alone for a few-day trip to Edinburgh just to see the finished movie (as I'm assuming the BDHs won't stick around until the fourth screening on the 28th. Correct me if I'm wrong).

Therefore all this talk & photos of shindigs, flanventions and BDH sightings are making me very sad and alienated.

So is there anything else going on around the fourth screening (shingdigs, BDHs etc) to make me reconsider pimping myself on the streets of Helsinki for travel money?
If not, then what else is there in store post-August in the UK/Scotland. I've already tagged Starfury's con in November as a possibility.
Come on people, sell it to me! :)

That's it for now. Once again, nice to meetcha! I'm usually not this high-strung. And I'm trying my best to start jumping into the midst of all these threads... but, in the words of Jubal Early: "You folks are all insane!"
