Writing letters doesn't usually give you any advantages. Literally every show, good or bad, has a horde of loyal supporters who will send mails when the show is about to be cancelled. This is regular practice, so the broadcasters doesn't really pay that much attention to it. The solution is to find some other innovative ways to support the show without sending mails that will never be considered (and sometimes not even read). The ad campaigns, trying to get more people interested in the show, is a good idea, for example.
