That's totally beside the point, we need our show to pop up everywhere and win everything, so gogo download already ;-)

#2, so far.

The FRACKING point is... What good to US is being able to download Firefly episodes? Its not like they are new episodes.. and everyone here except the ABSOLUTE newbies owns multiple box sets.

I am all for popularising Firefly but advertising the fact that we can download Firefly episodes on this site serves no real purpose other than enlightenment.

Lets preach to the choir..

That's what I was aimin' fer. I probably won't download any eps, but it's another shot in the arm for us. Can't stop the you-know-what, etc.

The fact that it's number two behind 24 is totally something. I mean, don't go out and spend all your money up, but it all the browncoats just buy like one a week, we can keep the name up there. People are watching, trust me. When it comes down to the wire, these numbers are going to be important. Because no matter how much we love the show, the F*X, Scifi, Universal, and whoever else, it still comes down to the bottom line.

I'm on the Tivo community board a thread was posted about the upcoming anaversery. A few people posted asking what firefly/serenity was.
So I posted a link to amazons download page, tell them the first download was free, suggest they start with serenity.

It seems as tho it might be a great recruitment tool

Hey, I'm downloading the pilot ASAP. Yes, I've got the boxed set. And no, for some reason I'm not seeing the "1st download is free!" thing (though hopefully I will once I remember my Amazon password that my laptop @#$% forgot), but I'm doing it anyway. At $2 a pop it's easy 'nuff to do.

The pilot is 1.2GB. It gets to live on my computer permanently. And the next time I'm yakking about Firefly and Serenity to someone who's never seen it before, I can slide my laptop across to them and say, "Hope you have some time. Enjoy. I'll be back with snacks."

Besides, my boxed set lives at home (where the OTHER Browncoats live!) This way I can always get my fix, even if I get stranded.

Rack up numbers for Firefly? You bet. Get my fix? You bet. Can't stop the signal? ... You have to ask?

Errr... I hate to come across as iggerant, but I am. I couldn't find the "You save" anywhere. I bought it anyway. $2. No sweat. But if you've got more complete directions on where I can find that, I could use the hand-holding.

Thanks,

Hahahahaha! I might as well complete the whole dork image by replying to my own post. Viewed the order and there's a nifty $1.99 charge followed by a -$1.99 rebate sitting right on the invoice. Couldn't be easier!

Thanks again for pointing out the whole Amazon Download thing. W00T!

Let's see, on the main page that says viewing:firefly Season 1 in the middle it says season year;2002, just below that it says season price;$$27.29, then Season Sale Price $22.29, then You Save $5.57, then 3 lines of small print & in small print bold "Instant rebate: $1.99 off your first purchase (with a link)Here's how(restrictions apply)

all of the above is located between the firefly
picture & the Buy buttons. Oh but you know, that was all on the main firefly page. On the individual ep page the link is located just below the Price; $1.99.

This link might work

I hope this helped...

Indeed it does! More good news, Serenity (the movie, not the episode) is also listed as available for download, though when you click on the link it says it's not available yet. But I'm guessing that means there's a placeholder in the system for when it does become available.

Not sure how many other movies they're planning to do this with (yes, there really are other movies besides Serenity). But this is a neat service.

Still downloading the pilot, so I can't compare quality against the DVD yet.

Where it differs from iTunes is that you get a large, higher rez copy for watching on your PC and a smaller copy optimized for your handheld device, whereas iTunes gives you one file that’s somewhere in between. Consequently you get a much crisp bigscreen version and a portable one with a smaller filesize.

Let's expand the choir!

Enlighten someone else!

Tell others they can download one episode of TV for free and you have a suggestion like Firefly.
And it is still #2 after 24. Whoo-hoo!

Like the idea above of keeping a downloaded episode on a laptop to show whenever. Airplane rides etc. Read this idea elsewhere about having a portable DVD player with Serenity DVD: Have three sets of earplugs and ask your seatmates if they want to watch a great TV episode.

Same with handheld devices. Have a Firefly episode on it--to show to people what TV episodes look like on the device. Like "See you can watch TV episodes on it too." "That is too little...hey what show is that?..."

Thanks, fans, for letting us know how we should be presenting this show. You'll see that the shows are now numbered as they should be, starting with "Serenity."

On a personal note, I watched the show when it first aired and never really dug it. But then I watched it again, as it was intended, and now I'm a huge fan. Better late than never!

I'm guessing that the pilot has fairly high visibility at Amazon because in the Unbox announcement that went out to Amazon employees from Jeff Bezos (founder and CEO), he mentioned that he did the first download and his choice was the first episode of "Firefly." Not too shabby; I'm hoping he'll be a full-fledged Browncoat soon!

I was just at the Amazon site checking up & noticed FF was rated one star--despite having a 4 star in customer reviews. Needless to say I'm a bit on the confused side.

Apparently Pecos was upset because they have to watch the show via Unbox and can not delete Unbox without deleting the downloaded material. I paraphrase but that seems to be the jist.
