Quote from JMS about B5:TMoS (they're in the contracts stage on this one), but then goes on to say -

"Thing of it is...there's a LOT happening right now in the B5 universe, on a
multitude of fronts, some of it in response to TMoS, some of it coming up
completely on its own. All I can say at this moment is that if you've been
waiting for new stuff in the B5 universe, you may be getting your wish in
spades very soon.

Soon, I promise, all will be made clear. I don't like being Mr. Mysterioso on
this, but if I say too much, the-powers-that-be will use my head to make a
2.35:1 sized hole in the wall."

2.35:1 - that's the ratio for film, right?

If so, I'm betting the green light for Serenity may have made WB look at what they had in the box - what goes around, comes around - I'll stake decent money that had B5 not been around, Firefly and many of the other, non-Trek, space based shows might not have made it.

I'm now going off to book a long course of physiotherapy, because its going to hurt crossing all my fingers and toes for a long time.

NOOCYTE

I had not heard boo about this. Thanks for posting it!

A B5 movie would be fraggin' awesome! Talk about something which has Cinematic Scope written all over it! It would have all the makings of epic storyteling right out of the box (as it were).

My only concern would be the IMMENSE amount of backstory which would somehow have to be woven in. I don't know that they would make it out of the pitch meeting with their dignity intact if they tried to sell this as a film which assumes that the viewer has already seen the five seasons and various TV movies (and hopefully forgotten about Crusade. Blech.). Unless, of course, they could make in very much on the cheap (Zoic, anyone....?).

I'll definitely have my ear to the ground on this one!

Keep flyin'

I kind of liked Crusade, and given all the trouble it had before it made the screen, it turned out okay - the last few episodes (particularly the one where Franklin turned up) were okay - didn't do great right off the bat, but had it been allowed to find its feet, I think it may have worked.

As to a movie, I think they could avoid most of the backstory to be honest - layer it in as they did with In The Beginning, so if you know it, it has more weight, but if not, no big - essentially the Shadows were an unstoppable enemy that came back after 1000 years (okay, Delenn put it more poetic like, but anyway).

My wife and I have a couple more episodes left in Season Two - we're buying the DVD's of the series and going through the whole thing. Takes a while, but with this being my second/third run through (the others were on broadcast) the series, I have to say that it is truly a wonder to behold. B5 had some awful writing at times, but the scope, vision, and overall storyline was great stuff.

I'll look forward to that movie!

I'm replacing my videos with DVDs as they come out - must have watched the show through at least 3 times solid - skipping Grey 17 (okay, skipping to the fight scenes) and a few others. First saw it as a rental video of the pilot - not sure how I came back to watch it given the awful 80s stylings and music, then got hooked by one of the worst episodes (Infection) - purely because of the talk between Garibaldi and Sinclair at the end.

Towards season 3, I was getting the episodes from the states, then buying the UK releases, as well as watching the UK broadcasts. Not too obsessed at all.

I had heard this mentioned elsewhere - and it's something else to look forward to

Just read Ain't It Cool - shocked to discover I may have beat them by a matter of minutes in spotting the hint, though their tipster seems to think that TMoS is the film - my reading of the posts suggests that TMoS is a TV Movie or mini-series, but that any film is a separate matter - I as I understand it May is the usual time to announce the fall schedule for TV, which adds weight to that.

The JMS News site is an excellent place to visit for B5 (and JMS) updates. I usually check out the following:

JMS posts: http://www.jmsnews.com/
JMS Forums: http://jmsnews.net/forums/

FYI - the latest info (posted above - Shiny!) appears to have been released on April 29.

That 2.35:1 is the big, i.e., anamorphic widescreen, hint for a silver screen appearance. There's no other interpretation that I'm aware of. I don't thnk they'd shoot it in this aspect ratio just for home screens. So few of us have them.

I read about it on Friday afternoon after receiving the usual JMS news digest I've been subscribing to for, OMG, 9 or 10 years. I didn't post it here because I as in a hurry for work. I'll try and post news quicker next time. :-)

I was shocked that I seemed to be one of the first to spot this - used to be a time when I was quick enough off the mark to get regular mentions on the good old Spoiler Zone.

Take one look at my alias here and tell me I'm not a fan.
I, too, have heard this mentioned before. I think it was about a month or more ago. On this site, actually.
Like I said then and now: SSSSWWWWEEEET!!!
I'm hoping they do the storyline from "World Without End" where Sheridan goes to the future and falls smack dab in the middle of, what I assumed was, the Drahk War. It's the only story left from the B5 Universe that hasn't been wrapped up, yet. Well, that and the story of what happens with his son. And also, even though it was touched upon in Crusade(ugh) but not really shown, the Telepath War. Hell, there goes a trilogy right there! Come on... read this JMS!

Place I heard it mentioned was www.firstones.com. They didn't mention movie, but they did say about the aspect ratio

There is a fair amount about those threads in the later novels (the Centauri trilogy) which were, if I recall correctly - pretty canon. I think they explain why Sheridan is where he is in WWE.

The problem with that is just how arc intensive that would be, where as the telepath war is fairly arc independent for new fans.

B5 for the first time - cool. Season 3 really ramps the arc up, and the special effects from the tryptich in the middle are still some of the best I have ever seen on TV - how they did it on the budget I don't know.
