DEWRASTLER

I saw it, and it was a pretty decent film. Just don't think it's the actual true story, because it's not. This movie is as accurate as Pearl Harbor, historically speaking. With that in mind, it was funny to listen to people outside of the theater talk about it like it was straight from Mark Zuckerberg's personal diary.

BYTEMITE

Exactly. Something tells me rather that it was from Eduardo Severin's diary. ;)

Anyway, I'm annoyed by social network sites in general, so I'm probably more than a little biased on this front.

But I didn't particularly like this movie. It felt almost like a facebook drama dump itself, dorm room drama from a bunch of self-centered indulgent immature young adults. The movie tries to convince us to have sympathy for any one of the characters and that they're savvy and cool, when none of the characters, not Zuckerman, not the girl from the beginning, of course not the two rich entitled pretty boys, and not Napster, none of them are actually likeable.

And, if you take my view of it, and that the source of the story is Eduardo, then he doesn't come off looking very good either bitching about getting a few million dollar settlements and how these other people were corrupted by the money and screwed him out of his share. Please. He wasn't exactly penniless at the time himself.

The only reason I went is because someone I know had the misguided notion they could do research on advertising via social networking by seeing it. The story about the birth of ANOTHER fad site, quickly becoming obsolete, is not very interesting to me.
