Hey, i hate to say it but the only reason Dollhouse had that much extra umph! was TSCC. Kill me, frag me, i don't care, i mean look at it alot of Terminator fans stayed on to watch Dollhouse, other then diehard diehard whedon fans, and i just don't see it going on for much past season two, IT HAS THE FRIDAY NIGHT DEATH SLOT FOR GOODNESS SAKES! Look at the facts, 90% of all shows on this slot, on any channel, fail and are cancelled, like D ARK ANGEL, FIREFLY, AND OH YEAH! TS'FRIGGIN'CC, that's just my impression.

I wish I could say you are wrong, but the show never had the audience required to last long. And it was one of those shows that requires attendance to keep up with the story arc. Any new people will be asking, "Who is Alpha?" It is a shame, because I enjoyed it and only disliked the FBI agent. They had him dancing all over. He needed outside help to get as far as he did with his investigation. So I hope they start with some reruns to get people caught up on what is happening.

Sometimes I think it is simply a matter of these shows being Science Fiction. There have been many excellent novels written in this form over the centuries, but the film industry, and latter followed by TV, had stories aimed at a young audience. I remember, in the Sixties, there came shows like "Men into Space", "Twilight Zone", and "Star Trek" that were aimed toward adults. A far cry from the "Flash Gordon" serials and the Saturday afternoon TV shows of the fifties. I can't help but think there are people who believe Science Fiction is for a young audience. That people prefer a more action adventure series as apposed to something with more drama. There were films like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and "Forbidden Planet", but they were few and I don't believe many critics would place these films in the same category as "Gone with the Wind".

Maybe I am overthinking this, but it seems Science Fiction, on TV, has a hard time getting a following and the support from the Networks. I thought "New Amsterdam" was a great show and poof it is gone. If the title does not start with "Law and Order" or "CSI" it dies on the vine.

Well that is my rant for the week. I will keep my fingers crossed and take one season at a time for my favorite Science Fiction series.

It is at times like this I start clicking my heels together and chanting, "There is no place like Firefly, There is no place like Firefly."

I unfortunately I agree completely. Actually, I'm a little bitter than TSCC got the boot and Dollhouse stayed (which is saying a lot as I pretty much love everything within Whedonverse and did a director's presentation on the guy in an mpt class) .

C'est la vie.

That's rediculous. Maybe you havn't noticed, but Fox, really all the networks, have stopped airing reruns for many hourlong dramas. For shows with serialized storylines, they're almost never rerun these days. Cuts into the DVD sales.

I have to disagree, at least a little. ABC is currently running Castle in reruns, and it seems they're going to keep doing so throughout the summer, as the lead-in for the fall premiere of Season Two.

While they DO want to get DVD sales, they also want to build audience when and where they can. And when you're as desperate as ABC and NBC seem to be lately, you've got plenty of primetime hours to fill, especially in the summer!

Castle is a show you can just turn on & watch with no knowledge of the last ep, so reruns make great sense with that one.
