I spent last weekend at P-Con, which is a science-fiction and fantasy writers convention held in Dublin every year. http://www.slovobooks.com/pcon4 One of the regular guests is Paul Cornell, who has written books, TV Dramas (including some Doctor Who episodes) and comics. http://www.slovobooks.com/pcon4/2007_guest_cornell.php

Anyway, Paul was on one of the comics panels when the subject of time in comics came up. Since a lot of comic characters have been around since the 60's, time is a pretty chaotic thing. A few massive clangers were mentioned - Ben "The Thing" having been a pilot in World War II, The Beatles having been at Reed and Sue Storm's wedding, and yet somehow they're still a fairly young couple with two small children, that kind of thing.

Paul mentioned that Joss apparently blundered right into this when he first discussed Astonishing X-Men with Marvel. They were at a meeting to decide what Joss' story arc would cover and the first question Joss asked was "So, how long have the X-Men been together?

Apparently, Marvel just stared at him while he sat there, wondering what he'd said wrong.

That's all. Firefly, Serenity and Astonishing got a few mentions during the con, but nothing spoilery was mentioned. Just wanted to share the story!
