...they have a new animated movie called Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles coming out on DVD this Feb. 6.

The movie has characters in it from all 3 generations of the original show, and all the original voice cast is back. And Mark Hamill and Chase Masterson (From Star trek Deep Space Nine) are in it, as well.

The storyline picks up where Robotech: The New Generation ended.

You can preorder it on amazon.com or go to http://www.robotech.com

I just thought there is probably a lot of fans out there who didn't know this was coming out, and the more DVDs they sell, the better chance we have of a new series, or more movies.

So go get some. ;)

Really looking forward to it. Sure has taken them long enough to finally release it though (I think it was completed more than a year ago).

Yeah, it was about a year ago. I can't wait myself; I've already preordered 3 copies. Every little bit helps.

They were gonna release the DVD earlier, but then they decided to do one of those "limited release" theatre runs that plays in two theatres on the whole gorramn planet.

I'm gonna be rereading the series (better than trying to track down several hundred dollars worth of DVDs).

Any info on how/if this ties into the "End of the Circle?" The book's also set after the Invid war and explains ahat happened to the SDF-3. Is this gonna tie-in, or is it yet another alternate universe (like the Robotech comics that came out years ago)?

Cybersnark, buy the Protoculture Boxset. It contains the WHOLE series, plus 7 bonus discs, and goes for about 95.00 on amazon.

That's what I bought. It's an awesome set!!!

And Shadow Chronicles isn't alternate reality. It's a continuation of the TV series. The books are considered non canon now. (well the original books, the ones that are novelizations are still canon I believe.)

I do believe that ALL of the Jack McKinney books have been rendered non-canon. Which kinda sucks since I've enjoyed the books just as much as I've enjoyed the show.

Thanks for the heads up on The Shadow Chronicles DVD.

Yeah, I actually like the books better than the show (more cohesive story, better developed characters, and the original Macross/Southern Cross/Mospeada animation is a bit dated by now).

S'alright though, since "my" Robotech already has more alternate timelines than an episode of Star Trek Voyager.

You haven't gotten your pre-orders? Dang, who did you order them from? I got mine on the release date and I ordered it from Amazon a couple of days after this thread was first posted.

As far as the actual movie is, I felt a little let down. It just doesn't seem to have the "soul" that the original shows had.

(Of course after 20yrs of anticipation, just about anything would of been a let down...)

It does serve as a good set-up for a new series, though.

Haven't purchased it yet, since I've yet to have time to reread the Robotech novels as I'd planned to.
