Whether or not it was warranted this was one of the coolest moments on the series so far. One would expect the Colonel to threaten Rush(for the Nth time) but to strand him comes off as refreshing. How he manages to get back to Destiny and what will happen afterwards should provide many episodes of quality entertainment.

You're right. Rush didn't deserve to be stranded like that, he deserved to be lined up against the wall and shot. The col was very lenient in dealing with the traitor/sabateur that is Rush.

Thats what I would do anyway..

CORTEXOVERRIDE

Ive Ive only watched five episodes of SGU and from that, I've noticed certain flaws in the show that had me too from enjoying it.
Lets start with the title "Stargate:Universe". Hmmm, isn't The Stargate technically the universe in itself? You don't have to be a fanboy to know that, you could figure this out by breaking down the word: 'Star' and 'Gate'. Gee, I wonder what those two words mean. The characters aboard the ship aren't engaging. Like in most sci-fi shows, 95% of them are White males and the few minorities on the ship usually fall into some designated stereotype. The Tokien black guy on the ship suffers from anger management issues stemming from his child hood; As for the women on the ship, the higher their job descriptions are, the unhappier they seemed to be.Please, lets see another scene where their crying in a shower or in some dark corner by themselves.Even the character known as Rush suffers from this down trodden characterization. He wears glasses, has lack of social skills and extremely condescending all because his job description entails him to, not because it fleshes him out as a human to the audience. And as someone mentioned before about the lighting, Everything looks muddled and dark.
Now this just my narrow critique of the show so if there is anything you don't agree me with on, please let me know.

TRAVELER

No. I feel the same way about it. As for the scenes being dark, I finally came to realize the show is dark and the low lighting reflects that. The only character that has any intelligence is Eli. And yet he is the youngest and has no authority.

After the first two series, that were teams that worked together for the greater good, we now have a divided group of people filled with distrust and what appears poor self worth. So this is not the Stargates of the past. We are seeing a whole different show that just shares a similar title.

I prefer it to the other Stargate TV series. I liked the movie, but never got into the TV versions. SGU is no BSG or FF, but they are making a good effort.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I am enjoying SG: U. It is a bit darker than the other SG series, more along the lines of BSG. I agree the low lighting reflects the mood, but other aspects lend to the hopelessness and distress of their situation. Alone, heading away from home, never knowing where they'll stop next, low on food, water, and all manner of supplies, and with hostile aliens trying to find them. All make for a good show.

The cast is good, but seems to lack the chemistry of the other SG casts. I am thinking after they get another season under their belts they will gel better.

I think the lack of chemisty is deliberate, to create a more tense mood. Think of a ship full of Jayne Cobbs....

CYBERSNARK

Yeah, in the last few eps I can see Scott, Greer, Chloe, and Eli kinda forming the seed of a "core group" (Scott as the Ace, Eli the Scientist, Chloe the Chick/Diplomat, and Greer the Proud Warrior Race Guy) but they still have a lot of growing to do (assuming the non-Greers manage to reunite with Destiny).

We applied the cortical electrodes but were unable to get a neural reaction from either patient.

Looks like the writer's strike is putting Stargate on pause.

It's possible that this one might be watchable after Amazon and the other platforms use this strike as a way to finally purge all the terrible writers that have been ruining pop culture for the last decade.

I see some OG names possibly attached to this, which is promising. Possibly some involvement by people involved with The Expanse. I've never heard of them, which in current year is almost certainly a good thing. I never watched The Expanse after Amazon picked it up, but I never heard any real complaints about it either.
