The first trailer for Fantastic Four is out with the movie, Elektra. On thursday, Total Request Live aired 20 seconds of the trailer.

Here is a link to that clip.

Pretty soon the entire trailer will be online. I can already tell this film is going to rock.

Just saw the movie. Loved it. FF trailer was great. Also trailer of sin city. Two comic book movies in one year with Uber Hottie Jessica Alba.

I'm not so sure...

Remember how cool Tim Burton's Batman films were until you watched Batman the animated series? The series was fast-paced, well written and just rocked. Suddenly the Batman films seemed slow, uninspired and kinda lame. At least IMHO.

I have a feeling The Incredibles is going to trump the Fantastic 4 film in much the same way. Unfortunately for FF, The Incredibles came out first and set the bar pretty damned high.

Word has it FF producers recently had to re-shoot the ending of their film to make it more Incredibles like. Too little too late?

I'm hoping for the best but prepared for the worst re: Fantastic 4.

Actually, what happened is that they had to re-shoot to make the ending less Incredibles-like. Apparently the original ending had some similarity to the Incredibles, which by the way I have yet to see.

MISGUIDED BY VOICES

For some reason the download kept cutting out for me, although I got the first couple of second with a bit of Stretcho and then Ben taking on what looked like a fire engine.

I'm not a long time FF fan, but I am concerned they could be putting the Marvel film cause back a long way with this one. I don't care about the story being true to the comics, because beyond the fact that they had cosmic rays hit 'em, I only ever dipped in and out of the continuity, but The Thing looks like a man in a rubber suit (heck, in one of the stills it even has a gorram crease in it!).

Frankly, unless I hear that they are doing some post production on that suit, I'm going to take some persuading to see this one. Okay, kudos for not going down the Hulk route, which had a hero that didn't always look like there was any weight to it, but that's only useful if it looks right.

There's still time I guess...

I thought that Reed Richards was suppose to be a good bit older than Susan Storm. How much older? It always seemed a bit curious to me in the comic/animated version that Reed was so much older than Susan, aren't they suppose to be 'seeing' each other?

Then I noticed the ages of the actors playing those parts, and Jessica Alba is 8 yrs younger than Ioan Gruffludd, but in the pic from the site, Ioan still looks kinda young.

And then it occured to me that I might not have much of a life.

I hope it's a good flick.

Obviously FF will not be like the series, and obviously the producers will take certain liberties with stuff. I'm not too worried about the age gap thing. To be honest, I always felt a little uncomfortable with it.

Jessica Alba is only about 21/22 and Ioan is just hitting 30, So really, He looks fine.

They've only started the CGI work, so don't worry about The Thing.

If you don't like the story, at least the CGI stuff will rock.

And Incredibles setting the bar high? I loved that movie, but it was COMPUTER GENERATED. My gods. Look at Spiderman! That's some of the best CGI work in a live-action movie. Honestly People!

EDIT: Hey, anyone know the hard rock music on this trailer? Would love to get ahold of it.

Three things.

1. Saw the teaser for this and I really liked it.

2. This is #2 in the list of comic book movies of 2005 I wanna see. #1 is obviously SIN CITY, #3 is BATMAN BEGINS and #4 is CONSTANTINE.

3. You know, I liked THE INCREDIBLES, but I'd hate to think that people will see FOUR as an INCREDIBLES knock-off. If anything, it's the other way around. Elastigirl is essentially a female Reed Richards and Violet is Sue Storm as a sullen teen. And as much as I liked INCREDIBLES, I don't think it's incredible or ten best good. Mind you, anything following FINDING NEMO, their best work to date is a tough act. I preferred THE IRON GIANT, Brad Bird's previous work. Now that was an incredible film and as underrated as INCREDIBLES is overrated.

I actually read this in a review and it really seemed to sum up the problem I had with the movie. "The Incredibles cops out with a Nietzschean version of Superman which suggests that one's best is inborn. Bird's philosophy speaks through Hunter's heroine, who, while coaching her self-conscious teenaged daughter in using superpowers, exhorts: "Don't think. It's in your blood." The volitional Iron Giant and his friend Hogarth, who saved the world with a Herculean act of free will, would disagree.

A few throwaway lines decry the age of mediocrity, but the notion that one's ability is innate—the villain is depicted as monstrous because he is self-made—looms and, coupled with the requisite notion of saving lives as a moral duty for "the greater good," it is something of a killjoy. The Incredibles being born incredible undercuts their appeal."

This I find an interesting take on the movie, and I'd actually like to debate this in another thread or through e-mail correspondence. What do you think?

I guess it's just me. When I was a kid, I always wondered what was the deal between Susan and Reed. It seemed like sometimes they were married, sometimes just dating, and sometimes he was a father figure to her. As a kid, I didn't dwell on it too much, cause it was a cartoon and I was just a kid. But it always kinda stuck w/ me..for some reason. Sort of like - what's up w/ the Scooby gang? Where are these guy's parents? Where do they live ? Why are they in a van ? Who's van are they in ( is it payed for?) and how do they make a living ? Are they on some cross country trip, and all these things just seem to happen to them during the course of their journey? Boy....i sure got off track there...

Yeah. Like is the whole mystery machine thing like a hobby they do on weekends, or is it a full time job. And if it is a job, who pays them?

And don't you think that if 10 times out of ten the ghost or monster is just a guy in a costume, they'd just go up to the guy, rip off the mask and say "Look dude. We know it's a sham. Don't embarrass yourself any further."

About Scooby Doo, my fave rip into it is in JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK.

"The only mystery here is why we take our cues from a dick in a neckerchief."
"Keep it up, beatnick, I'll feed you to the fucking dog."

Looks remarkably like Ultimate FF to me.
Which has been a whole lot of fun, btw.
Anybody else think that on seeing the trailer?

Ya know, I think the casting is genius. I personally have no faith in the film's plot. But seeing Chris Evans as Human Torch and Gruffudd as Mr. Fantastic somehow got me verry giddy. Gotta love the Torch, and I'm glad they got him right.

Is the trailer on a site that doesn't require a download from apple? I don't have an apple machine and can't seem to get the trailer to work.

I'm looking forward to this movie.

I don't think it'll be a ripoff of The Incredibles. I found The Incredibles funny and entertaining but nothing great. It was one of the best movies of 2004, but only because there were hardly any other good movies in 2004.

I am looking forward to the real people version of FF cuz I watched the cartoons as a kid and liked them. I don't really know the story from the comic books, so I won't care about how close the movie is to them.

If you have quicktime player on your computer you should be able to play everything but the full screen (which I guess involves something with the iPod) I'm running on a Dell and I downloaded quicktime off the apple site.

Finally saw the trailer. The movie looks entertaining. It has the potential to be good for its genre of movies.
