Okay, The West Wing may not seem like Sci-Fi to many, but considering the current political climate, a Democratic President seems like Sci-Fi to me. Not to mention an effective leader that actually gets things done. Realistic? Not in my lifetime!

No matter though, because I liked The West Wing for similar reasons why I love Firefly. It was extremely well written and had a wonderful ensemble cast!

Here's the sad news for West Wing fans (or anyone that enjoys a brilliantly written and acted series). John Spencer, who played White House Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, died friday of a heart attack.

John was a fine actor, and was the anchor to an amazing cast and show. He will be missed!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Condolences to his family. Sad news indeed.

He was the vp candidate for the Smits character... he will be hard to replace.

This is the first I've heard about this.

West Wing is one of the few shows I do watch for the same reasons you listed.

OMG, the west wing has been one my fave shows for years.

This is really sad as John was a fantastic actor and man alike.

A really sad day.

Chris.

RIP John Spencer
