I have heard that Walt Disney has the rights to Edgar Rice Burroughs series about John Carter. It is due to be released in 2012. Got my fingers crossed. This is another project that has been tossed around and I hope it has finally found a home. Guess I will have to go library and dig out "Princess of Mars" and if I am ambitious read the rest of the series.

I'm reading the first book currently. Been a fan since Gil Kane's Marvel comic version in the 70's.
It's great, and I *hope* they can do the first book justice...

I am not familiar with the main stars of the film, but they have credentials that I can't argue with. Disney will put the money in it so it will have the best effects around.

The big question mark I have is Andrew Stanton. Great job with animation, but this is going to be live action. I love the "Toy Story" series and that encourges me that this guy knows how to put a story together.

I have a gut feeling this is going to be better then the Star Wars Prequels. I mean a LOT better.
