I've been lurking in my local comic book outlet, waiting for Issue #2 of Better Days to show up. Since I've been greeted with the smilin faces of Issue #1 for the last week, I've been browsing.

I happened to catch the name "Joss Whedon" on the cover of Astonishing X-men, and opened it up.

Yup. That's Joss alright. Brutal, gutting, good dialog. Odd to have mutants talking like a Firefly episode.

Cyclops, I must say, is a heckuva a lot more hero when cast as a Mal-clone. Seriously, Nathan Fillion with a slightly reduced chin/nose.

All around interesting to see the Joss-level relationship bits - glances, one-on-one dialogs. A tribute to the guy's talent for characters in what would be a standard "Earth is doomed" X-men scenario.
