Yup, you heard it right. This Saturday is free comic book day.

Comic publishers produce a free comic to be distributed at all participating comic book stores. The idea is to bring a new audience to comics, but loyal comic fans are just as welcome to pick up an issue

You can find out if a store near you is taking part at the Free Comic Book Day website - www.freecomicbookday.com - some stores taking part are also offering discounts and promotions for other titles. So why not wander down to your local comic book store and join in the fun!

A brief addendum for Irish browncoats - Forbidden Planet in Dublin and Galway are taking part! Woo hoo! Free stuff!

There's also a chance you might run into Browncoats promoting their June charity "Serenity" screenings at various Free Comic Book Day events, since many of us are taking advantage of the concentrated mass of a good target audience.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I'll be there. I go every year with the kids and have a blast.

The past 4 years I go and wear a Firefly or Serenity t-shirt and hand out flyers and tell people about Firefly and the BDM. This year I get to tell them about the SE dvd.
