PINGJING

I heard a rumor that Bruce Sterling is going to come to Boston in November. Is anyone here a fan? I've never read his books (though they're online and free) but I'm curious whether I should check him out.

Thanks!

One day.
One mission.
One legion of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave.

I always enjoy his stuff, personally. Part of the group that popularized cyberpunk back in the day with William Gibson, etc. Another good book of his is Islands in the Net. And one he co-wrote with Gibson called The Difference Engine. Sort of an alternate history steam-punk type thing.

Thanks to both of you! I'm not sure about the dystopian mood of cyberpunk (I generally avoid depressing books and movies, though I did like the Matrix) but I think I'll try one of the books you suggested.

Whether or not I become a fan of his books, the man himself is fascinating - check out his blog:
