2000AD, for those not in the know, is a long running British comic anthology that played host to the debuts of talents such as Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, John Wagner and Alan Moore himself. It's run approaches 30 years and 1500 issues thanks to a weekly publication, and a keen eye for dark humour and brave ideas.

One fan favourite is Strontium Dog, a semi-regular strip about a far future society where nuclear wars have created an opressed underclass of the genetically altered, who are denied any conventional employment, save that of bounty hunting. It is thematically somewhat similar to Firefly thanks to a western frontier feel, though it gleefully incorporates aliens, time travel and vikings!

NUCLEARDAY

Yeah, I've loved the ones I've been able to get my hands on. Hard to find the States sometimes, though. The comic stores around here don't have the widest selections. Used to have one store near where I lived that had a stack of back issues for real cheap, I only wish I could've picked up more.
