Kung Fu Panda 4 (or is it 5 if you count Secrets of the Furious Five?) has the same problem as Ghostbusters: each new movie sells fewer tickets worldwide than the previous movie, but Panda is not yet losing money. https://www.the-numbers.com/movies/franchise/Kung-Fu-Panda#tab=summary The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly

Quote:Stand-up comic Max Bernal and his 11-year-old autistic son Ezra set off on a road trip in this vivid portrait of a family figuring out how to understand one another. Having recently blown up his career and his marriage, Max is living with his father Stan and is profoundly at odds with his soon-to-be ex-wife Jenna about how to address their son’s special needs. When Ezra is expelled from yet another school, Max makes the controversial decision to take Ezra in the middle of the night, embarking on a cross-country odyssey.

Quote:California produces too many movies. Most are not good but if you wait for one and a half months, the not-particularly entertaining film will be available at a price that matches the time-wasting and worthlessness of the product.

Since it had a budget of only $100 Million it will probably end up doing slightly better than the 195.28% MI made vs. its own production budget, but at this point I'm wondering if it will even make 200% of the budget or just slightly above.

If it were, it would have collapsed a long time ago. Your version of history, as is your version of pretty much everything, is a fantasy you made up in your head and will not be discussed here. Take it to Twitter. Meanwhile, the studio execs have finally figured out what they were doing wrong these last 5 to 10 years and they're in the process of firing everyone involved. The writer/actor strikes backfired hugely and ended up being a great excuse to axe 2/3rds of them without any consequences.

That's good-ish news. It won't be nearly enough though. I'm interested in seeing the final number. It's pretty hard to really pin down anything this year because the box office is behaving far different than it did last year. I'm sure it's going to hit $200 Million at this point, but I have no idea how long that will take. My guess is that it falls short of that by the end of next weekend, but it probably will manage it by the weekend of the 18th if it's not pulled from a ton of theaters here and internationally before then.

Quote:Originally posted by 6ixStringJack: It must have been yanked from a lot of international theaters after writing that, and it only remains in 228 theaters this week in the US. It's at $199,645,000 worldwide right now. It only made $25k on Thursday and it was showing in more than 3 times as many theaters. It only made $330k this weekend. It's hit $200 Million with rounding, but will it actually hit that mark before it's gone? It is quite possible it only has 4 more days before it's gone. It's going to need at least 2 more weekends without losing any more theaters to get there unless Bruce can dig up $350k out from under the international couch cushions.
