At least people are telling Disney and WB that they're tired of superhero flicks anyhow. Oppenheimer, meanwhile, made a much more modest $10,500,000 which is about what I expected either of these films to make in previews. -------------------------------------------------- How you do anything is how you do everything.

You mean the $ from Wed showtimes plus Thurs showtimes. I can believe the $ from Wed were about $7M, and then Thurs would be about $14M. That would explain the $7M missing from average Wed total Box Office.

I've heard complaints that Dead Reckoning is too long, and yeah, at 2 hours and 45 minutes it certainly is. But at least that won't feel like you're doing homework like sitting through Oppenheimer without the ability to get up to stretch and take a leak without missing anything will.

Quote:A total of 4.5 million American servicemen – more than 40% of all still in uniform in 1945 – would be involved. One US Admiral estimated there would be some 250,000 Americans killed or wounded on Kyushu alone. A General estimated American casualties from the entire operation would be one million men by the fall of 1946.

I personally am not too worried, we have a few science, history, AI and space threads and if you followed War or History or Science a lot of readers would already know of these guys, people like Werner Heisenberg if you are the reader of history and war and science might some of the back story. You might know of FDR and Hitler and Stalin, the improvement in sciences across Europe at this time, the Jewish politics and involved with Bolseviks and the rise of the Right and then Hitler blaming the Left or blaming all problems on Jews and trying to build a Military Reich and SuperRace, you might know of Niels Bohr, Einstein, Truman, Hirohito, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Nikola Tesla, Michael Faraday, Marie Curie, Wilhelm Röntgen, Antoine Henri Becquerel the Principle of special relativity the revolutionary theory on Quantum Physics and atomic structures, and people might know of Oppenheimer himself and the Joe McCarthy witchhunts and Red Scare and people with their hoax trials and trying to call him a 'Traitor'. I will probably watch the movies anyways, Spoilers or not However I have not read the book on which the movie is based

Yeah. And the video I showed you took place in New York. Stupid is everywhere. Now follow back your quote chain to where you asked what kind of person doesn't know who Oppenheimer is and how they could call themselves American and where I said that even less people knew who Oppenheimer was than knew where Ukraine was on a map 2 years ago and you'll find that nothing you're saying is changing that fact. In the meantime, you're being nicer to human beings than Lovecraft was. He just called us meat sacks with jelly inside.

In the meantime, you're being nicer to human beings than Lovecraft was. He just called us meat sacks with jelly inside. The movie may not make it clear that Oppenheimer, despite his reputation for brilliance, wasn't smart. The movie does make it clear that Einstein was smart and both worked at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. When the shocking news became public about Oppenheimer losing his security clearance, which is the main point of the movie, Einstein told a reporter that he thought that Oppenheimer should go to the government, tear up his clearance, tell them they were fools and resign. As usual, Einstein saw through the thicket of complexity to the heart of the matter. But such behavior would have been entirely out of character for Oppenheimer. After conferring with his lawyers, Oppenheimer decided to fight the charges. And that is why there is a movie called "Oppenheimer". He was doomed and wise Einstein knew it before foolish Oppenheimer did. If a movie about a guy who killed hundreds of thousands of women and children but slowly developed a conscience against murder in a way that ended up humiliating him during a trial for a security clearance, "Oppenheimer" is your kind of entertainment. https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2023/07/oppenheimer-vii-scorpions-in-a-bottle.html The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at https://www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly
