I had a wave from (I presume a Bonanza fan as that was the comparison) in relation to the TV Vote threads. ACESANDEIGHTS, asked for info about Firefly - what is it & how come there are so many Browncoats for a show that only lasted half a season ?

Reasonable question. Everyone in the 'verse has heard of Bonanza, unfortunately we can't claim the same for Firefly - yet

I started off with a half page diatribe - blah, blah, blah but I'm no scribe

so I canned that and put in two links to YouTube for vids that I thought captured the spirit of Firefly:

I have fond memories as a kid staying up to watch the Cartwrights on our B/W TV. Not fair, they get 14 years, we get 14 episodes

Anyway, I figured these links are a good start for lurkers out there who want a 10 min synopsis on the shiniest series of the century

Oh yes Bonanza, I had a chance a few years a go to go to the Ponderosa set in Tahoe area of Nevada. Man it was cool. They had a trick shooter with his trick horse scared the jap tourists out of their seats with the bull whip. Hop Sing along with the Cartwrights are buried there. They have a little boot hill sort of thing. Parents of that generation believed that once you own one tv its for life. I didn't know Little Joe's jacket was green till I grew up and got me a color tube. Yeh star trek had red shirt dudes who get killed on the landing party never knew they had different color shirts. Memories like the corner of my mind. Next month Alias Smith and Jones box set of the first season hits the shelf. I'll be getting it for sure.
