I have phoned Universal studios in the Netherlands and have asked them why it takes so long for Us films to be released over here.
First I was told that this was a good question since the films get sent to non-English speaking countries before being released in the US even, so they can be subtitled or dubbed (In Germany this is done a lot).
They also told me they're working on getting the US and European release dates closer together or even at the same time because of all the bootlegging. :) Finally something bad leads to a good decision, so chances are that we will get the premiere of Serenity at the same time as in The States.
Oh yeah, while I'm at it, Robinhood (I think) asked whether we have the same format for movies in theatres as in the States and the answer is yes, also It's possible to show digital films in theatres in Europe without having to convert. So neither of these things are responsible for the current delay in release dates.

Robyn.

Thanks for the info :)
The Finnish 'versal site is only for the press, so couldnt ask them. I've tryed to ask this same question from Universal's main site, but they never reply.
