So, I was just chilling around surfing the Internet looking for something about Firefly when all of sudden (without even knowing how) I end up on a weird,"let's offend other people's ideas because it makes us cool"-type website. I was about to leave when suddendly this comment among others catches my eye:> Come to think of it, my favoritest blasphemy may well be in the Jaynestown episode of Firefly:" It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of him was one kind of sumbitch or another. Ain't about you, Jayne. It's about what they need."

Cause it's so subtle most people won't even recognize it! <

I had recently finished watching Jaynestown (hilarious and well made, btw)What the heck does this person's comment mean?! I don't get it...

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

There was another recent thread about that Jaynestown quote, with the person wondering if Joss was taking a swipe at religion, since there are many statues of Jesus around the world. I don't think that was in his mind at all, but rather the statues of politicians and military leaders. Have no idea about the specific reference you found, since I don't know the site it was on or the context of the comment.

But talking about weird and offensive, have you seen news reports about certain Alt-Right-Wingers asking whether or not Obama and the military artificially created Hurricane Matthew in order to destroy Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate? That's some real-life tin foil hat conspiracy if I ever saw it.

It wasn't until the internet that we got a glimpse of just how many warped people there are in the world. I think it shows us just how much hate there is as well.

One thing is for sure. These people have never taken a good look at themselves. Therefore their development never made it past juvenile.

WISHIMAY

Being around the internets for the last 20 years or so, I have come to realize I have above average intelligence. Unfortunately, I am still dreadfully stupid in so many things, that I don't consider my above averageness anything to brag about. Some days I feel barely functional (like today, trying to sort the myriads of trucks to buy). I tend to feel sorry for those of a lesser IQ, but it seems like they always manage to come out ahead anyway, and it seems I seldom do. It does seem to be that there is an equation in life that I don't understand.

I managed to track down again the origin of the comment, it was posted in a website called "The digital cuttlefish" (I honestly have no idea how in the world I had originally ended up there), if you want to check the reference type something along the lines of "jaynestown blasphemy".
Though the comment's author definately looks like a moron who entirely misunderstood Whedon's and Firefly's take on religion.
