Mal's on the ground, about to get speared by Crow. A shot rings out. Crow is kneecapped.

Mal: Nice shot.

Jayne: I was aiming for his head.

They should make that countdown on the main page larger and in real-time (A Java-based counter or something)

There's no place I can be since I found Serenity.

Somebody over at the OB posted this link for a countdown to the BDM.

http://www.eloramoon.com/bdmcountdown

With the resolution I have my monitor set at (800x600) I have to scroll down to see the actual countdown. Also, haven't done the math so I don't know what time zone that is figured for, but if I had done it, it would be for GMT with zero hour at 12:00AM on the 22nd, 'cause I am sure somewhere there will be an advanced midnight showing. And if there's one in my town, or anywhere else close enough, I'll be there.

DarkHood, (or anyone else):

Know how to place an image in a post? I've got a screencap of my desktop (800x600, 75.8 KB), illustrating a code-snipped HTML page I've set as a destop item in WinXP, which now keeps me eternally updated on how long 'til the BDM.

Easier to show than to tell, but if anyone's interested I can send you the code in a FFFn message (can't post it here because of escape char format of this site). Copy into a blank Notepad document, save as (filename).html and place as desktop web item (I'll give complete details to those interested), and you're good to go. No external elements downloaded or reported to the web, no live connection required; simple javascript, ripped off from eloramoon.com and stripped of extraneous stuff, crisp and clean and no caffeine...

I'd like to show a picture of it, though, so peeps can figure out if they really want it or not.

Respectfully,

zoid

Fellow Browncoats:

Thaks Jasonzzz for pointing out the obvious solution I was so clearly overlooking. Here's the screencap of my desktop, with the little timer thingy in the upper left corner. http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=1258

It's pretty vanilla, but I consider the info more useful than the looks. If anyone's feeling all hackerish, they can dive into the (as yet undeclared) arguments for the script's bgcolor and font characteristics (something that matches my desktop in a subtle greeny blue would be nice ). The page code only has the body's background and text colors defined; the script doesn't have any placeholder for changing those attributes with in the script. (EDIT: Okay I shamed myself into it. The html now contains the proper placeholders to alter all the text and background attributes I could think of. If you know any HTML, you should be able to adapt it to fit your color schemes. Put up new picture to my desktop in Blue Sun Room for example.)

Pretty cool, for this fanboy. I'll see y'all in "Only 320 days, 7 hours, 36 minutes, and 46 seconds left until The BDM!"
