Freakin' SHINY :)

After purchases of books, a dozen DVD's, attending ComiCons and Browncoat Balls, in other words tryin' to spread the 'Verse love like any self-respecting 'Coat, it's gorram awesome to get some shiny, hopeful news like that.

Joss, we're waiting and rare'in for another go at The Impossible.

If you're referring to that last part, it isn't what he said at his session.

What he said, when someone asked about JMS and Babylon 5, was that he thought a lot of people right now are starting to look at other and different avenues through which to produce their work.

It was a general statement. He didn't say anything specific about wanting to do direct-to-DVD Firefly/Serenity.

Although it's hard not to grasp at any news saying something about more 'Verse as gospel, the fact is that Joss said very little about the future of the 'Verse at ComicCon. In fact according to Bix on another board the next Serenity comics have even been pushed back til January or so.

Any more 'Verse depends highly on how well the Collector's Edition does, and even then that may not be enough. I happen to think it's our last opportunity, I'm sure Bix will come back and refute that and tell me there's no hope. LOL

Anyway... lets do hope, but not read too much into anything. If or when there is more 'Verse, there'll be a huge announcement from Joss on Whedonesque and the word will spread quickly to every site and to every news source. We'll know if it happens. There won't be any guessing.

I'm not a Babylon 5 fan, but I sure have family members who are and who are extremely excited about this. I know fellow BC fans who are also very happy this is happening. So... yeah..

I need to give the series and the follow up movies a try, I guess.

Oddly, no. While I remain extraordinarily skeptical that an August DVD release is enough time prior to the September contract expiration to have the sales be a factor, I've never argued that the sales are completely irrelevant. Heh.

I believe (someone who was there correct me if I'm wrong) that the gist of Joss' remarks on the Collector's Edition were that it exists at all because the first sold so well, so buy this one, too.

Hello Somnanbulist:

You may want to see a few episodes of Babylon before commiting to the movie.

The problem with Babylon was the cast kept changing.

I liked the show but major characters would either die or get wisked away.

So watching just a few episodes may give a false impression on what the movie may be like.

The series actually had a final episode. So a whole new storyline must be devised. They actually demolished the Babylon station in the last episode. So there is no more Babylon 5.

I am assuming they will have some sort of prequel to the destruction and after the main plot line ends. The Babylon 5 station is supposed to have been around some twenty years, so I gather other events would have occurred during that duration. Just a guess on my part. Have not heard anything about the movie.

Well I have said alot about nothing, so I will end now and let you decide.

Just know I liked the show.

B!X,

Universal could just be waiting to make an announcement about how many DVDs already sold and wanting to add the August totals to it. I have HOPE! LOTS OF HOPE!

Have you read anywhere how the contract works?

Does Universal have to be making a sequel to keep the contract open? Or do they just have to say okay we will make a sequel. Are there some sort of options that Universal can invoke to keep the contract open? If Universal wanted to make a straight to DVD sequel instead of a theater film, would they have to let the contract expire and make a new contract and just believe none of the actors will hold out.

I wonder if gossi knows this kind of stuff.

I still say if Universal lets the contract expire, Joss can shop around. Where is Mary Parent working now-a-days?
