Hey everybody, i was bored in government class today (gorramn feds) and started thinking about the timeline of firefly. if anybody here listens to the Signal, then you would know that a relaible form of terraforming takes aboiut one hundred years (episode 7, i believe.) heres a very loose timeline i came up with:

Pre-2100: people start to realise Earth is dying, so they plan to launch probes to find a better home.

2100: the probes are launched to several stars that would be likely candidates, at about half the speed of light.

2150: A probe reaches a system 25 light years from Earth (we never really know how far away the 'verse is from Earth, but i just guessed, as it would make sense.) that would be terraformable. it has over 70 rocky planets and moons that could be terraformed. the probe sends a signal back to Earth.

2175: The signal reaches Earth, humans prepare a fleet of robotic terraforming ships to go there and prepare the system for human habitaion.

2200: The terraforming fleet is complete and launches for the star system that will become the firefly verse.

2250: The fleet gets there, and begins the hundred year terraforming process on approxamately 70 planets and moons.

2300: The human race is cryogenically frozen and placed aboard several robotic superships which then travel to the verse, leaving Earth barren of human life.

2350: Humans reach the Verse just as terraforming is complete; they settle on the new worlds.

2350-2450 or so: civilization basically starts anew; people remember tech and culture and history and such, but they basically have to start over in terms of creating things like cities, cars, spacecraft and the like. This period is where the humans of the verse get back up to thier level that they were at before they left earth.

2450-2500 or so: The blue sun corporation begins; through vast wealth it begins to influence the different governments on the core worlds, eventually bringing them into the Alliance.

2500-2511 or so: (dont know when the war Started) The Unification War

2515: Mal buys Serenity

2517: Events of the series

If anybody knows anything i missed or if my dates are wrong, let me know; this is just my idea of a very loose timeline that i thought of without access to any firefly resources. not really practical, i guess, but i was bored, like i said. i guess some could use it in an RPG or something.
