Just watching Serenity again, and I gotta say it's still the best (or more accurately, my favourite) movie of all time.
Sure, not as cozy or warm as the series, not even mostly as clever, but such a dark, brooding examination of the Human condition... no yucks like when Mal stabbed Atherton, but redemption, like after Mal dislocated the Operative's arms & made him see what he was truly a part of.
Very "Empire" & "Jedi."

If only Avengers turns out as good.

I watched part of Serenity the episode the other day after more than a year away. You forget just how good this stuff is between viewings.

As for the movie, yeah, I like the themes, I think the theme and the plot is an incredibly important message. Having the Firefly characters is a bonus.

My favourite too.

I just love everything about this film. I think Joss & Co did an incredible job. And I think he did wonders to get such a confident performance out of Chiwetel who is brilliant in this movie. I just love the way he wipes his brow when he's fighting Mal - which is great fight sequence, not quite Bourne Ultimatum but very good nonetheless.

Yep it's ace. Nice camera work, decent score, great design and superb set pieces with a very satisfying finalé.

One criticism.... There's no sequel!

Been a while since I peeped it. Will try this weekend. I watch the tv series all the time, but I must remember that if not for the BDM, I probably would never have heard of Firefly.
