So, my best friend's Uncle works in the "industry" these last 30 years, and has the inside track on virtually everything.

Just recalled a conversation about Firefly.

Just remembered, he told both os us, Fox pulled the plug on Firefly, and AFTER CANCELLING, decided to show the unaired pilot episode...

... now, why the FU would they do that???

Can't believe I hadn't thought of this for so long...

It makes sense. Any show they have had that required any form of intelligence to comprehend/enjoy has been killed with one exception.

I was never an X-Files fan but just about every one I knew who was said the Fox beat the show to death, rode it like a wet horse, and it came around to bite them in the ass. It was one of their more successful shows. Of course they promoted the dookie out of it as well. Now, they dont give good shows enough of a chance.

There is growing and obvious evidence of a lack of knuckle scaring on most non viewers of the Belch And Fart channel, due to the ability to walk upright.

"My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

Seems to me I vaguely remember reading in the fall (before the show even began to air) that Fox had decided not start with the original pilot, but promised to show it in December as an "origin special." Pretty sure I'm not dreaming this up, because I can't imagine my brain coming up with the phrase "origin special."

So maybe that had something to do with it. I remember being very depressed after watching the final, and reflecting on the cruel irony that the last lines were about how still flying was enough.

But now, DVD's and movie, so things are looking up.
