And how does that link to our crew?

In Serenity: Those Left Behind, Mal and crew go to the remains of the Battle of Sturges. Maybe they came across a Firefly Series 3 Military variant off-camera/comic book. Maybe the mission wasn't a total loss after all and the crew picked up something useful that saved the day in Serenity: The Other Half. Or maybe the first half of the story is going back to the Battle of Sturges and searching for missiles.
