They might still be able to catch Nathan (Our Captain) Fillion's movies Waitress and SLiTHER in a theater.

Box Office Mojo has posted figures for Waitress and SLiTHER from December 2007.

I like to believe that one day, Nathan and/or Joss and/or Summer and/or somebody in Serenity will be such a big star that Universal will finish Serenity's International release. And then they use that money to fund a sequel.

As it stands, they stopped the international release just short of budget and then Charity screenings and regular screenings pushed Serenity over budget (not into profit...just overbudget) I think this because Joss said he got a letter from Universal about Serenity being in the Black.
