Okay, I've got some random questions that I've never got around to asking, so I figure nows as good a time as any. So...

1. What exactly is a filk?
2. How do you make screen caps of firefly episodes (or anything, really)?
3. How do you use a custom avatar?

I think that's it.

REDHEAD

A filk is a fan song with lyrics written by the fan and the music is a piece of popular or well known music ie I could take the song "the ants go Marching one by one" and create a Firefly filk like this:

The Fans go marching one by one HURRAH, HURRAH
The Fans go marching one by one HURRAH, HURRAH
The Fans go marching one by one
They're all part of the 76th Battalion.
And they all go marching down, to the Con, to get out on parade. Boom, Boom, Boom...

That would be very bad filk but, for an example, it makes my point.

Screencaps have always eluded me; you need some kind of special software to get them. I'm sure google would have some suggestions.

Custom avatar? That there's my specialty. Get a photobucket account, upload whatever you want to use, and paste the HTML code (it's clearly marked) into your tagline here. Most picture posting here requires only the URL, but the tagline is a special case and needs the coding. Easy peasy.

What happened? He see your face?

If u have a PC, Windows Movie Maker comes with Windows Xp. You can get screen grabs with that.

Should be under your "All Programs"

After you import a movie (.avi, .mpg, etc.) into your collection, where the actual video shows for previewing there is a camera icon that will take a still.

Hope this helps.

There are many other professional programs, Sony Vegas being one.

Ok if anyone figures out how to do the screen cap thing...let me know as I want to do a slide show thingy with U2's Elevation and the images from Firefly I see in my head when I hear that song( ok the fact that I'm a nut job does not alter the fact that it's a great song and goes well with our BDH's)

If u have a PC, a couple posts up may help. That will do the screencaps. ...and it comes with windows. Not sure what a MAC has. :(
