Not sure if someone posted this already, but I happened upon this on imdb.com

The summary blurb:
A small town is taken over by an alien plague that tranforms residents into zombies and mutants. One townie (Rooker) turns particularly violent, and it's up to his ex-wife (Banks) and the local sheriff (Fillion) to stop him.

The IMDB comment:
Perhaps the most interesting thing we've heard is that writer-director Gunn is telling the story from several different points of view. Whatever the case, it looks like it's up to Fillion (Serenity) to save the day once again, and his dry wit and tough-guy looks are custom-made for this 80s horror/invasion flick tribute.
