Watching a few episodes today (normal) I was stumped when watching OUR MRS REYNOLDS. I like the music from the show very much but the tune played during the settlers party sounded very familiar.
Ive looked all over for music refs but no joy.
Does anyone know the tune I mean?
A soundtrack for the show and film of course would be great.
Any info about the series music would be much appriciated.

The best reference about the music I've found is this interview with Greg Edmonson:

http://www.tracksounds.com/specialfeatures/Interviews/interview_greg_e
dmonson.htm

In part, they talk about what music Greg wrote versus what was from other source material:

HS - What about the bluegrass at the dance in Our Mrs. Reynolds, where Saffron gives Mal the wreath?
GE - Definitely wrote that.

Note that the only pieces Greg remembers being sourced were the dance music in Shindig and the River dance in Safe.

There's a link at the end of the interview to bug Fox to release a CD of the Firefly music. Wouldn't hurt to repeat it here:

askfox@foxinc.com

[request]Please everyone, send a note to Fox about this. We need this CD released. Greg has provided the music, all they have to do is produce it.[/request].

Until that comes out, the next best thing is a whole host of mp3s that SNEAKER98 put up in the One Trading Post area. Take the following link and scroll down almost to the end for the list of links (it's a long thread):

It's truely awesome to have this on an mp3 player.

Yeah, and if wishes were horses we'd all be eatin' steak.

Wanna hear something wacky and weird?

If you listen to the melody, it sounds EXACLTY like the Willie Nelson song "You were always on my mind" but more, you know, firefly-ified, all, bluegrassy and stuff. But if you listen, you can sing the words almost right to the tune they play, and it's sounds like the same song :P

I know they wrote it it and all, but still, it's an eerie-ass coincidence :P
