Top-selling, influential UK film magazine Empire has always been very Joss-positive, and lately the editorial staff have getting excited about Serenity. Plus, they're planning coverage of it. Yay!

From a recent web chat with the mag's editor, Colin Kennedy:

Quote:

DaveB: Joss Whedon fan - good man, looking forward to Serenity?
Colin: DaveB, my job now is to sign the expense claims of our lucky bastard writers who get to go do the set visit of Serenity instead of me. But yes, I really hope he pulls it off.

The full transcript can be found here (the Serenity comment is on the third page):

While I'm at it, and apologies if any of this has been posted here before, here's their Future Films page about Serenity (includes links to related news stories):

...and their review of the Firefly DVD set:

/ pure intentions, juxtaposed /

DaveB: Do you think American TV is becoming better than American films with things like 24, Six Feet Under, The West Wing etc on the airwaves?
Colin: Two years ago I would have said yes, and indeed have championed the coverage of such TV in Empire, often against opposition. Right now though, post-Whedon, US TV is in a transitional phase and I am more excited about movies again.

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

And Total Film! Dodgeball and I, Robot were reviewed in this month's issue, and Alan gets mentions in both reviews - not so good for Dodgeball (though the complaint seems to be about the character), but they say (and I'd agree) that he is one of the best things in I, Robot, which is a fine (and reasonably intelligent) action film.
