Then go to the "Promo Pictures and Scans", there's a pretty clear shot of the necklace in one of Zoe's close-ups. Hope that helps.

HOWARDROARKLAUGHED

Don't have a close up, but wondered if anyone else watched Shindig with the commentary. The wardrode designer explained that the necklace was a symbol of her bond and marriage to Wash. I thought this was great little detail and insight into the characters, but then I watched Out of Gas again and saw Zoe wearing the necklace in the first flashback before meeting her husband. Somebody missed the boat on that one.
Anybody out there a jewelry designer? Bet you could make some money making copies of Zoe's necklace and the great pieces that Inara wears.

Slayer730- Like your comment on never judging a book by its movie. Example 1--I,Robot. While a decent movie, made better by the involvement of Alan, it was so far from the book to be laughable. Hope nobody bought the book after seeing the movie expecting similar stories.

After looking at the close-up it seems to me that the necklace is just a long piece of cord:

It looks like it's wrapped around her neck four times and then knotted (almost looks like two half hitches but I can't quite make it out).
