Great choice. This reminded me of the story arch we totally missed (among all the others, this one we saw the beginnings of, but was reset for the BDM) was the transformation of Jayne from his selfish self to someone greater. For Serenity to work, the reset button was sort of pushed on Jayne, he was kept fairly stable so as to foil Mal's transformation.
