Howdy fellow browncoats

I’m posting here as an update to a BSR blog I had up earlier.

For a little background: I have a friend at work that had been complaining about having limited viewing stations on his television at his apartment. He also said he was tired of watching all of his old dvds he had in his collection. We talked and I asked if he liked science fiction. He said that he did.

So being the opportunist browncoat that I am I asked “ …..Have you ever heard of a show called Firefly?”

Course he hadn’t….so being the extremely sharing and caring person that I am I offered to turn him into a browncoat, I mean offered to lend him the series.

SHINY # 1

I brought it to him the next day and at first he didn’t seem interested. He couldn’t seem to be able to get past the battle sequence of the first episode without falling asleep. Now in his defense we both have been working a lot of overtime so we were extremely tired. He may have began starting to watch the Serenity pilot just before bedtime and would have been too tired to watch anything. I was really aggravated with this and told him to watch the show when he had more time.

As it happened we got some days off last weekend. Returning to work I was not going to say anything to him about the show when he approached me and said, “ You know that Firefly show you wanted me to watch? I only have two episode left……is FOX crazy or what!! That is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time. I can’t get the Jayne song or the theme some out of my head!!”

I was very happy. I feel like Dr. Frankenstein, in a good way of course……I’ve created another browncoat. We began talking about Firefly and all of the characters. He really likes Morena and Jewel and thinks Jayne is hilarious. I was really happy about all of this.

SHINY # 2

This fellow employee and I began talking about FF quite often and other employees have become curious about the show. Can I tell ya how much fun this is….? There are at least two more co-workers that I will be lending the FF series to……we’ll see what happens after that!

Z, loyal browncoat

Nicely done, grats! You'll soon find that owning one copy of the BDS isn't enough w/ all the loaning out and still wanting to re-watch. I've gotten some people hooked by giving the movie first (for the people who like action movies) and then saying "you know they did a tv series of this". The number of fans is growing all the time...the hope is someday there will be enough that we get more of our BDH's or, at least, more stories the 'verse.
