The first of our BDH is now confirmed to appear at Dragon Con. Now we just need to keep those requests coming for Mark Sheppard!!

I often wonder what the actors think of these things.
Ever see Galaxy Quest?
Do they get fed up like former Star Trek actors, who see this as their only source of income?

I say that but I know it's not true - they all seem to be doing all right. But do they view these cons as a "well I need the work" type of thing?

If you haven't seen the 2 Trekkie documentaries, you should. Galaxy Quest used some of that as template.
Trek had the first fan convention, asked Star Trek actors to come, like 1971 I think. Nobody accepted, until George Takaie (sp?). He didn't understand any better than the others, but asked how much he had to spend on the flights (from his work in NY to L.A.), how much it would cost him for the rooms, meals, etc. He was shocked that all would be paid for, and he asked what they wanted him to speak about, and they said anything he wanted to, but they hoped he would fit in something referring to the show.
I always thought that was a cool beginning to fanventions.
Roddenbery had to pull these people off other works, they went back to them and I didn't understand they starved much, but Nimoy had a problem from being typecast.
Nichelle was pulled off a lucrative dance tour in Yurp, I think. Most of the others were stage actors doing well. Shatner was the TV guy.

Well, based on Nathan Fillion's talk show spot on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he finds the con' attendees and the mood at least entertaining and something to kid around about (in an affectionate way). Heh :P I wonder about that myself though, what they think of it all. And Ron Glass seems to truly enjoy the company of the fans, as does Adam Baldwin (he used to post on the official forum, I hear?).
