Howdy fellow browncoats. I’m not sure, but as a browncoat myself I, at times spend moments thinking about the tv series Firefly and what could have been. We all know that the stories of the verse were not complete when Joss, the cast and crew got the axe. I would have loved to have tuned in to the show every week to see what adventures and mishaps the crew were up against. Truth is I feel a connection to each character of that small transport vessel. This is unique because on other shows there is at least one character that I could give squat about. Not so with FF, I care about everybody. That said, for me I can easily envision each character having 3 or 4 episodes (had FF continued) devoted solely to them.

What would we have leaned about Shephard Book? Would Mal and Inara have ever gotten together? These are questions that play on my mind sometimes and are very open to each browncoats visions, so here goes the questions without answers.

Simon, I do believe that Simon would have hooked up with Kaylee but there would have been so much more between “ Glad I rate better than dead Bessie here!” (The Message) and “ I want to live!” in the BDM.

River; River would have shown that she was much more than your average 16 year old all through season 2 and 3.

Jayne; I would have loved getting the back story on this fellow. This is a character I would have really enjoyed meeting the parents and relations of. Can you envision the surprise seeing Danny DeVito as Jayne’s father?

Wash, did the pilot of Serenity spend time in an freedom fighters prison camp?…….Even so maybe that was better than where he grew up?

Zoe, now here’s a woman I would have really enjoyed getting to find out what made her tick. There’s got to be a ton of life experiences that caused Zoey to be the way she was. Devoted, tuff as nails, and a killer of the unjust! Zoe could be a superhero easily.

Kaylee, young, sweet and not so innocent. Was Kaylee a companion in training? I’d buy that for a dollar! Well, maybe not, but it would have sure been fun to see if Inara was schooling the ship’s mechanic for a different life?

Book? Need I say more?

And finally Malcolm Reynolds. Would Malcolm have ever slayed his demons? Mal certainly feels guilt over loosing so many of his comrades in arms at the battle of Serenity Valley. He lost his faith there. Would he have ever regained his belief in God? The question, if God granted every prayer wouldn’t people just pray for everything? I wish I were rich, I wish I had power, I wish I were beautiful, I I I. Well, I feel that if a simple prayer granted everybody everything there would be nobody doing anything but praying all the time.

Any browncoats have ideas about this?
