Foreshadowing Question

I have a question about foreshadowing in Firefly. There was lots of stuff which referred to things which happened later on in the series like in Out of Gas Jayne questioning the integrity of the incense in Inara’s shuttle, and then in BDM we see her trick the Operative with a flash bomb. In the Pilot We see Wash playing with his dinosaurs and saying, “Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal,” and in another episode which I cannot remember right now we see Tam and River as children fighting when she says something about dinosaurs. Here is my question, was the line “Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal,” a foreshadowing of Jayne’s betrayal in Ariel or do you think it was meant as a foreshadowing of another episode which was not made? We know that in the pilot Jayne already had a foreshadow of his betrayal when he told Mal it would be an interesting day.

IMO, it was just something funny that Joss put in. I think that sometimes we forget that many of the things that was in the show wasn't there for anything but filler, or something funny, or something else just as innocent. And that gets lost in an over-analysis of the show. Such things tend to happen with things where there is *very* little content.

It is possible that the only foreshadowing in that scene was when little River began ranting about a mission with some dinosaurs, but I somehow suspect there is more or was intended for more.
