A note from El Jefé--

Folks...

Okay, I had this whole, long, insightful post ready to go, then it got trashed by my archaic computer.
Maybe for the best, since I think it was a bit disjointed.

Look, here's the thing--

Right now, there's a rather nasty war going on (despite assurances that said war actually ended months ago). And, as a reult of said war, there's an even nastier incident come up, what with prisoners and torturing and such.

Let's make it clear--this is NOT "Hazing." Someone posted something before about hazing being when you're a more or less willing participant, as initiation into a group--AND that the hazers have theoretically gone through the same hazing themselves.

This is NOT hazing, it's plain torture, intended to break the spirit and humiliate.

Everyone here has a political view, and we're all allowed it. But, do we need to attack each other's views? Have your opinion, fine, state it when asked, fine, but belittling someone else's opinion because it differes from YOURS is not intelligent, insightful, or thought provoking (some of the qualities of Firefly that brought us all here to begin with). Telling someone you're going to masturbate on their head, because of a stated opinion... that's just childish, immature, and plain ugly.

And lumping people into a sweeping generalization based on ONE stated opinion is equally childish, and borders of stupid (and, is a big part of why this torture is all happening--Americans were told "The Arabs are the Bad Guys" and we swalowed it, for the most part--soldiers need an enemy...).

So, let's try to keep the level of respect on this site that we've all enjoyed before today.

Anyone who violates this common respect will be denied citizenship and/or visitation rights to ThisLand.

If we want to discuss something politically charged, let's talk about the horrifying event that came thisclose to happening yesterday... a travesty so disgucting, so disgraceful, I can barely say it withoug gagging.

Yes, of course, I'm referring to the idea of putting Spider-Man ads on the Yankee Stadium bases...
