Chinese "Serenity" Glyph

Ok, I've seen a couple of pictures on these boards that have chinese characters written on them.

Somthing that I've come accross on the net has led me to ask this question...

Which of these two pictures is right?

The first is a picture of a serenity "Patch" from the Blue Sun Room (I've forgotten who posted it but it looks cool though!), the second is from an English-Chinese dictonary.

Now out of all the pics I've seen from this and other sites, they all seem to use the first set of glyphs, but the dictionary says that the second ones are right...uh, which ones right?

HELL'S KITTEN

Both of my dictionaries have the first as being correct (as seen on the patch).

Hmm. My artistic eye tells me the second graphic looks better, though the first character is a little different than the same character in the first graphic.

Also, that first character seems like it's the same character in both graphics but done incorrectly... but which one??? Man, we really need a Chinese language reader here. Help!

Okay, here's the deal:

ping2jing4 - the first picture - is what is actually written on Serenity. It means peaceful, quiet, calm and the like.

The second picture you posted reads ning2jing4, which means peace, tranquility, peaceful, quiet, etc.

Both are correct and interchangeable (to some extent) for the meaning, but the first one is correct for the name of our beloved ship.
