Just a random thought to spur a thread, if it does:

Say that the crew of Serenity had to settle down on a planet for a while, and to prevent someone else from ruining the place, they decided to run for the office of President of the Colony as well.

(Maybe Zoe finally got pregnant, they scored a major heist with $$$$, but had to stay on the far side of the 'verse for a while, whatever the reason...)

As a hypothetical citizen of the unnamed planet, which character would you vote for President (include VP if you want, heck, or other position/titles, knock yourself out), and why???

President: Book (a man with morals but who isn't afraid to get dirty)

Plus:

Presidents Bodyguard: River (who better)
Public Relations Department: Jayne (nod to the show)
Department Of Defence: Mal (war experience)
Covert Operations: Zoe (war experience and mean in a fight)
Media And Entertainment: Wash (dinosaurs rule)
Health Department: Simon (cuz he's a doctor)
Foreign Affairs: Inara (imagine some of those meetings)
Engineering Research Department: Kaylee (she knows how things work)

Simon, hands down.

He's got the image and experience to deal with high profile people without being intimidated or out of his depth - and given his close, quiet, SUPREME ripping of the incompetent doctor and police supervisor in Ariel, he knows when, where and just exactly HOW to apply the nutcracker too.
