ETA: Found a quote from Philistine writer, Michael Mongillo, about the movie version.

If THE PHILISTINE were a movie, it would be rated PG-13 for very tame and extremely limited profanity, no-nudity pulp-style romance, some smoking and drinking, and plenty of comic-style violence. Nothing worse than, say, the movies SPIDERMAN or X-MEN. In other words, pretty kid friendly.
