It's not what you think.

So, the $20 (plus tax) of Birthday money I spent on Firefly DVDs ended up netting me a disk 2 that won't play. No Shindig, no Safe, no OMR, and no gorram Jaynestown!!

I'll be buying myself another set (with my own hard-scrounged cash) at some point, but what should I do with the 3/4 disks that do work? I bought them weeks ago (and just now got around to failing to watch Shindig), and I threw out the receipt, so returning them isn't an option. I'm not enough of a hwoon-dahn to give someone else a broken set as a gift.

Don't suppose anyone has a set where disks 1,3, and 4 are fei-oo?

You know, you may have thrown out the receipt, but the store can usually pull your last purchase up in the computer by using the credit card or debit card you used to purchase with. Have you considered that?

Use 'em as loaners-" Hey, here's this show I love- watch this DVD. " Then they ask , " Is there more?", and ya say, " That was 1 disk of the 4 piece set, and there's also the movie..."
Also, in case you didn't , try cleaning both the disk and the player heads- I had a set of Slings and Arrows that also had one bad disk, and cleaning got it to work.

If you just bought a new set, wait a day and then return them with your new reciept, get your money back for the non-working disk.

If you bought it at a large retailer, they probably would exchange it for another set without the receipt. (Had to do that with Buffy Season 5 at Best Buy.)

Or go buy the new set, then a day later come back with the original set and complain disc 2 doesnt work. They swop it over and then you have two working sets - eBay it or donate it to your local library.
